i've been soooooo busy. this is how busy:
this is the first year i didn't start counting down til my birthday on may 19! i mean, of course i have a digital countdown on my mac dashboard, but i honestly didn't even remember that it was less than a month away now. haha. i am almost fanatical about the countdown to my birthday. but i think it may be a combo of i'm not excited about turning 24 and i'm too busy!

the storms have been alarming lately. i definitely was in my tiny closet with mitzi for over an hour last night. not cool.

today felt really long after having taken off monday and tuesday. it's unbelievable how fast the year as a whole has gone though! just have tomorrow & friday (field day though... doesn't really count) of this week left. then monday off for memorial day! then finishing up the year with tues-thurs, and half a day friday! CRAZYYYY!

how is it possible that it's already october?

i haven't posted in exactly a month. i just don't have time anymore, and the time that i do have seems to fly by!

i'm moving into my new apartment on friday! i feel like i have a thousand and one things to do before then! but not according to my list. apparently, i have about 10 things left to do, including purchasing some key furniture and packing! mostly, my things are all in boxes already, but i suppose i need to prep my clothes. (and possibly hand some of them down, since i'm realizing i probably have too many... oops.)

in like a month (after i get settled in), i'm getting a kitten! it's going to be a girl, and her name is going to be mitzi. i got this name from a shoe that i fell in love with this summer and never managed to find in stores! :( but it was a presh shoe, and i love the name, so i'm using it :)

usually, i abhor change. with a passion. but lately, i'm taking to change. the weather outside, the move, the responsibility, friends, etc... it's not as bad as i thought :)

i have survived my first two weeks as a kinder teacher! :)
and i'm still smiling, which is sometimes difficult! but, i'm loving it, and i love my presh students, so i can't ask for much more!

i have bruises all the way down both of my thighs. apparently my anemia and horrible depth perception issues have surfaced to an all time high. i literally can't touch my left thigh without flinching. haha.

funniest stories from the first week (name omitted for privacy):

one of my little girls forgot her jacket, so we went back inside to get it.
on the way, i asked her what her plans were for the weekend. she told me she was going to downtown garland. she seemed very excited about this, so i asked her what she was going to do there. she informed me that "it's winter there!"
confused, i asked her if she was sure she was going to downtown GARLAND, and not like antarctica or something (haha). she said, "nope- downtown garland."
i tried to think of things that would make it cold, so i asked if there was going to be water or somthing like that... she said (seemingly annoyed that i continued to question her, lol), "no- it's winter. like it's cold. like winter."
it is definitely still in the 90s, so i'm not really sure how she has come to this conclusion (:

since i have started school, i have dropped seven pounds! completely unintentional. i just never have time (or energy) to eat anymore... i know that's unhealthy... it's just that every time i TRY to lose weight, i can't, but when i don't actually mean to it happens all too quickly, haha.

3 (&4 &5 and lots of other times)
A. a mother was registering her boys during the second week of school, so i came down to the office to meet my new student. i came in and said hi! she just looked at me and smiled, but didn't say anything. the secretary finally said, well- miss gilmore is right there... the mother said, "OH! i thought she was an aide or something. you look sixteen!" the nurse said, "nope, she's his teacher! she's very good!" (how sweet.) :)
B. the first day i came to the school, i walked into the office to find out what to do. i stood patiently at the desk until the secretary looked at me and said, "can i help you?" i said, "yes, i'm the new kindergarten teacher... where do i go?" she said, "oh! i thought you were like sixteen!" the principal said, "that's why i really questioned her about her ability to deal with the parents!" hahaha.
C. one of my students has an older sister that also goes to the school. for the past few days, the older sister has been walking her down to class because she has been crying. she's one of my really shy ones, so i think she just has a bit of separation anxiety... anyway- the older sister came up to me and said, "so, how old are you?" i told her 23, and she said (like everyone else), "oh, i thought you were sixteen." lol.

by the way, i am going to try labels/tags/whatever for awhile. i'm going back and adding them to all my old entries. it might be fun. maybe.
